“Through our recent community development work, my organization has trained, taught and provided education and information to over 300 parents and guardians. The goal of this effort is to restore a safe and healthy community for all children and families in District 3.”
- Jumoke Hinton Hodge
Jumoke is the District 3 school board candidate with the education and community development experience to represent Oakland students, parents, and educators on the OUSD school board.
• She has represented District Three on the Oakland Children and Youth Planning and Oversight Committee, providing policy guidance and grant allocation for youth services throughout Oakland (2003-2005).
• She is currently building the West Oakland Education Task Force - a network across twelve West Oakland schools, in collaboration with school district office, individual school sites, community based organizations and small businesses.
• She is co-founder and currently serves as the Director for the Parent Leadership and Engagement Academy Initiative (PLEA), a community-building project dedicated to the education of and support for West Oakland parents and families.
• She is past President of the Board of Directors for the 7th Street McClymonds Neighborhood Improvement Initiative (2001-2003).
• She served on the West Oakland Project Area Committee and co-chaired the Equitable Development Subcommittee (2002-2004).
• She is an Oakland resident of 22 years and a mother of 4 Oakland public school children.
